AfroLeadership contributes to enhancing citizen participation in Cameroon

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, AfroLeadership participated in a regional workshop organized by the National Governance Program (PNG) with support from the World Bank at the Mont Fébé Hotel in Yaoundé. The event aimed to promote a culture of citizen involvement in the design, development, implementation, and monitoring-evaluation of public policies. Key stakeholders in attendance included secretaries-general of ministries, members of parliament, administrative authorities, representatives from the private sector and civil society, traditional leaders, development partners, and the Cameroon National Youth Council.

Topics discussed included the legal and regulatory framework for citizen participation, local taxation and development promotion, and Cameroon’s accession process to the Open Government Partnership. At the end of the workshop, participants formulated several recommendations to the Government and the National Governance Program (PNG), notably the launch of an Open Parliament initiative once Cameroon is formally admitted to the partnership.
