🤝 A coalition of civil society organizations promoting open and accountable governance around public budget issues.
From November 25 to 29, 2024, a training workshop was held for civil society organizations (CSOs) in Cameroon, organized by AfroLeadership in partnership with the International Budget Partnership and the European Union. The main aim of the event was to strengthen the skills of CSOs in budget analysis and advocacy, responding to an urgent need for transparency and accountability in public finance management.
Participants, representing a variety of civil society actors, engaged in enriching discussions on the challenges they face. They were able to share their experiences, identify common problems and together draw up a collective action plan designed to influence political decisions. In this way, the workshop served as a platform for dialogue and collaboration, essential elements in tackling public budget issues.
During the course, participants acquired practical tools for analyzing budgets and formulating recommendations. This increased competence will enable them to better engage in decision-making processes and defend the interests of their communities more effectively. In addition, the creation of coalitions around shared issues has strengthened links between CSOs, fostering a collective approach to tackling common challenges.
At the end of the workshop, an action plan was drawn up, outlining concrete initiatives to promote transparency and accountability in budgeting practices. AfroLeadership and its partners are committed to supporting this dynamic, aware that lasting change requires close collaboration and a thorough understanding of budgetary mechanisms.
