MyData Global

MyData Global is an award-winning international non-profit. Mydata is both an alternative vision and guiding technical principles. The purpose of MyData Global is to empower individuals by improving their right to self-determination regarding their personal data. Read MoreIt is based on the MyData Declaration. MyData Global has more than 100 organisation members and 400 individual members from over 40 countries, on six continents. It facilitates the 2000+ strong MyData Global community working on the ethical use of personal data. AfroLeadership is a founding member of MyData Global and has been part of MyData related activities since 2016. At MyData Global, AfroLeadership was elected a member of the Steering Committee as Organisation Representative in December 2020. AfroLeadership President was reelected as MyData Board of Directors member in December 2020. AfroLeadership coordinates the setting up of MyData country hubs in Africa. Read Less

Association Internationale des Maires Francophones (AIMF).

AIMF is a network of more than 400 cities and local governments globally. AIMF is the technical operator of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) for decentralized cooperation. Since 2009, the partnership between AIMF and AfroLeadership is built around local governance, local democracy, public finance and citizen participation. Read More AfroLeadership is the implementation partner of AIMF for projects aiming at building integrated financial management information systems for local governments (Cameroon, Gabon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, etc.) and central States (Comoros, Central African Republic) with SIM_ba, a software for public finance developed by AIMF engineers. AfroLeadership is currently working with its engineers to ensure the upgrade and maintenance of SIM_ba Software for various countries and projects in order to improve fiscal transparency, domestic resource mobilization, public contract transparency, assets management and others issues. Cameroon Community Driven Participatory Program (PNDP)

PNDP is a program funded since 2004 by Government of Cameroon and various donors (Worldbank, Agence Française de Dévelopment, European Union Delegation, German Cooperation, etc.) to design, promote and structure local participatory development in Cameroon. Read MorePNDP has been on the forefront of decentralization, local governance, local development and participatory approaches in Cameroon. The partnership between AfroLeadership and PNDP that lasts since 2012 revolves around participatory development and especially local public finance. PNDP and AfroLeadership have worked together to improve fiscal transparency and financial accountability with SIM_ba Software, with PNDP releasing funds while AfroLeadership would do technical implementation, training of staff on budget management and accounting, technical maintenance of SIM_ba Software and coaching of staff in local governments. The quality of this partnership and the results so far have also led PNDP to appoint AfroLeadership as the representative of civil society organisations in PNDP’s Comité National d’Orientation et de Pilotage (CNOP), its steering committee involving all sectoral ministries and public institutions in Cameroon. Internews, an international nonprofit organization, operates with administrative centers in California, Washington DC, London and Paris, as well as regional hubs in Bangkok and Nairobi. Formed in 1982, Internews has worked in more than 100 countries and currently has offices in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and North America.Read More Internews empowers people worldwide with the trustworthy, high-quality news and information they need to make informed decisions, participate in their communities, and hold power to account. Internews has been supporting AfroLeadership since 2017 with funding for several projects : Research Study on the socio-economic impacts of Internet Shutdown in Cameroon ; Capacity building for civil society organisations in Cameroon on digital rights, digital security, Internet Access, etc.; Organization of a Cameroon digital rights coalition ; training on Internet measurement tools. AfroLeadership is currently part of the oPTIMA Project, funded and led by Internews in several countries in Africa. Read Less

International Budget Partnership

The International Budget Partnership works in collaboration with multiple actors – including civil society, state actors, international institutions, and the private sector – to bring about a world in which empowered citizens participate in open, inclusive budgeting processes to shape policies and practices that promote equity and justice on a sustainable basis.Read More AfroLeadership is IBP Partner since 2014 and has been very active in fiscal transparency, open budgeting, citizen participation to budget process, etc. Since 2017, AfroLeadership realizes the research work for the Open Budget Survey in Cameroon. The Open Budget Survey is part of the International Budget Partnership’s Open Budget Initiative, a global research and advocacy program to promote public access to budget information and the adoption of inclusive and accountable budget systems. AfroLeadership is also a member of the Budget Transparency Francophone Network led by IBP. Read Less

Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency

The Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency (GIFT) is a global network that facilitates dialogue between its stewards and partners from governments, civil society organizations, international financial institutions and other stakeholders to find and share solutions to challenges in fiscal transparency and participation.Read More AfroLeadership has been part of several initiatives led by GIFT. The partnership is still ongoing and could see an upgrade in 2021 as AfroLeadership envisions to become a GIFT Steward, to keep on promoting GIFT principles, fiscal transparency and citizen participation to budget processes. Transparency, Accountability and Participation Network

The Transparency, Accountability, and Participation (TAP) Network is a broad international coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs) working together to advance SDG16+ to promote peace, justice, and inclusive societies, and to help enhance accountability for the 2030 Agenda Read Morefor Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AfroLeadership has been part of TAP-Network since 2014, and has been involved as a TAP-Network partner in several important activities as Member of the Steering Committee of the SDG Accountability Handbook and also as a Member of Advisory Group for the Global Decade of Accountability Campaign (2020 – 2030). Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition

AfroLeadership is a partner of GODAN for the promotion of open data and innovative solutions based on agricultural, nutrition and land data in Africa. The Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN) initiative seeks to support global efforts to make agricultural and nutritionally relevant data available, accessible, and usable for unrestricted use worldwide. Read MoreThe initiative focuses on building high-level policy, and public and private institutional support for open data. The initiative encourages co-operation among existing agriculture and open data activities, bringing stakeholders together to solve long-standing global problems. On a practical level, GODAN lends its expertise to advising on open data policy and funding proposals and, where appropriate, submitting joint proposals with members and partners. GODAN is in a position to use its credibility and expertise to support initiatives that aim to make positive impact in the fields of agriculture and nutrition through the use of open data, helping advise on applications, assembling partner network technical, policy and legal expertise, and acting as a facilitator. World Council of Cities Data

AfroLeadership is a partner in francophone Africa of the World Council on City Data (WCCD) to promote data leadership in cities, municipalities and local governments for the achievement of sustainable development goals. Read More WCCD was founded in Canada in 2014 and exists to help cities and communities of all sizes globally embrace ISO standardized, independently verified, and globally comparable city data to make data driven decisions on management, planning and investment, monitor progress and results, and overall become more sustainable, safe and resilient, prosperous, inclusive and smart. The WCCD team of professionals has led the development and implementation of three international standards on city data that have been published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in Geneva – now globally recognized as the WCCD ISO 37120 Series on City Data. The ISO 37120 Series includes: ISO 37120 - Indicators for Sustainable Cities, ISO 37122 - Indicators for Smart Cities, and ISO 37123 - Indicators for Resilient Cities. These are global firsts – and represent a timely movement towards better data for better cities. WCCD has developed an audit protocol for cities of any size across the globe to report data in conformity with these three internationals standards. Read Less
