From June 3 to 5, 2025, AfroLeadership, a prominent pan-African civil society organization, participated in a regional workshop co-hosted by the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The event gathered stakeholders from Francophone West African countries—including government representatives and development partners such as AFD, IsDB, BOAD, and the World Bank—to enhance the quality, accessibility, and use of development finance data.

AfroLeadership shared insights on civil society engagement and data-driven advocacy, highlighting the need for high-quality, accessible data to strengthen transparency and accountability. Key outcomes included identifying barriers to effective IATI data use, hands-on capacity building sessions, and regional input into IATI’s Strategic Plan to 2030. Representing AfroLeadership, Charlie Martial Ngounou, Vice-Chair of IATI’s Governing Board, emphasized the importance of localizing international data standards and integrating them into national decision-making.

The workshop concluded with a regional roadmap and a shared commitment to advancing transparency, ownership, and development effectiveness.
