AfroLeadership, a leading pan-African civil society organization, took part in the 8th edition of the TICTeC (The Impacts of Civic Technology Conference) held on June 10–11, 2025, in Mechelen, Belgium. Marking a decade since its inception, this year’s conference gathered experts, practitioners, and activists from over 35 countries to explore innovations and challenges in pro-democracy technology.
Under the theme “Pro-Democracy Technology,” AfroLeadership contributed African perspectives on digital rights, online freedoms, and combating misinformation, while showcasing civic tech and open data projects advancing transparency and citizen engagement across Africa. The organization participated in sessions on internet freedom, digital security, democratic literacy, access to information, and the role of AI in governance. By engaging in global dialogue and collaboration, AfroLeadership reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive, transparent, and resilient democracies and aims to apply the insights gained at TICTeC to further empower communities across the continent.
